Gaiwan-

$16.00 $9.60 (In Stock)

Size: 3.8 oz gaiwan

A classical tea brewing vessel that has withstood time--from the Ming Dynasty to today, the practical function and understated elegance of the humble gaiwan is inherent in its three parts: a lid, a bowl, and a saucer. The Tang sancai style gave credence to its parts representing heaven, humanity, and earth--all interconnected harmoniously, grounding the experience of gongfucha for both home-brewing and sharing among friends. A ritual for the present, experiment with time and temperature with oolongs, and attune to the nuances of green and white teas. Let the leaves unfold, slowly steeping.

Our introductory gaiwan hails from Dehua, a county in Fujian, China, whose specialty in ceramics dates back to the Qing Dynasty.
